I was sitting in the park today, brushing up on my Proudhoun and Bokunin, and pondering the necessity of grappling with all of these ideologies. I mean, for christ's sakes, when you are talking about Ideologies (with a capital 'I') you're never going to arrive at any consensus. I certainly think it's important to analyze both popular and unpopular schools of thought (and I curse those lazy Grayfaces who have no motivation to learn about the workings of their world), but who am I trying to convince?

Myself? I'm convinced already.


Like it or not, we exist in a Class War. It's a struggle to control the available resources. However, those who already have an Iron Grip on all things material are working VERY hard to keep it away from everyone else. You can go on espousing ideals of opportunity and neo-liberal economics, but if you're on the bottom, you're fucked. How have we convinced ourselves (after THOUSANDS of years of [more or less] intellectual analysis) that the poor sods at the bottom are there because it's their inheritence/destiny/lot in life? Clearly thousands of years of thought are wasted because they haven't produced a solution.

  Whithering sense of security
I'm obliged to go see Fahrenheit 911 tonight.

My prediction: I will agree with 70% of the film, be somewhat satisfied with the usually skewed quasi-liberal politics of MM, and have to go home and watch Star Trek: The Next Generation to try to recharge some semblance of optimism for the future of the human race.  ¶ 6/30/2004 11:30:00 AM
